The exhibition presented a collection of 105 fascinating black and white drawings and India ink paintings which undoubtedly comprise Kupka’s most extensive body of illustrations. The artworks, which depict the various developmental stages of society and its cultures, were created to accompany the monumental publication L’Homme et la Terre by French geographer and anarchist theorist Elisée Reclus. The collection is a congenial testimony, a celebration and an indictment of the history of mankind, and a deep, uncompromising probe into the past and present.
